iPhone vs Android : which one will you choose?

The ongoing battle for the best mobile technology:Whether you’re an Apple junkie by heart, or you favor Google as your brand of choice, you’d have to admit that neither one of them is the only possible way. Those companies have both contributed to what we now have on the mobile market, and are forcing each other to bring innovation our way. Apple fans go to extreme lengths to get the new iPhone, while Android supporters find new ways of confirming the fact that their system is more open , free , developer and user-friendly. So can we define a winner at this point ?

apple vs iphone which is better

Of course we can’t. However, in the interest of someone who hasn’t had a smartphone yet, we can list the features offered with both those systems in order to find out what would make a man choose either one or the other. We’ll review them thoroughly, but still there will probably be a lot more to discuss. Nevertheless, let’s begin.

Hardware

Apple is known to bring lots of features with its iPhone, which is why frankly every new introduction is faced with unimaginable interest. Since they use an OS developed for the hardware they make, it’s easier for them to make many particular optimizations, and in this case we can write one point on the board for them.

On the other side of the road, the Android OS is supported by many different brands of phones, and is the exact definition of a flexible system. Which means there will be competition for the hardware, and there will be a lot cheaper phones , which brings us to our next point.

Prices

Many users of the blogosphere have continuously made fun of Apple due to their ridiculous pricing, which can reach nearly $650 dollars without a mobile carrier plan to go with it, while Samsung Galaxy III which offers nearly the same features can be found for as less as $100 dollars on discount, and somewhere around $300 otherwise. It’s a visible difference in prices.

The obvious monopoly of Apple over their phones is something they can afford due to the brand name they have built for themselves. There’s only one iPhone, and it’s made by Apple, so you’d have to pay whatever it costs.

As for Android phones – the leaders in the making are HTC and Samsung, which also make the flagship phones for every new Android release. You have to choose a phone brand, a model (because there are way more than the iPhones) and a version of Android which is complicated for many users (particularly in America, with no offence to American readers).

But this sort of variety keeps prices low, and competition available, so you can get almost all of the same features for a lower price.

Features

Things are by far most uncertain here, because with each iPhone released by Apple, the next Android release has found a way to achieve the same functionality and raise the bar a slight bit higher.

Both operating systems are very feature rich, including a browser, a gallery , a web camera interface with facial detections. Both systems include ways of synchronizing information with the rest of the world and uploading to pictures, for example to networks (like iCloud for the iPhone or Picasa for Google). Both systems support multi-touch and multi-touch oriented functionality and gestures.

Apple introduced Siri with their latest iPhone release, and this was quite a pretty and neat feature. And although the feature Google released with the next Android to counter it, one could still say that Siri does a little better with voice recognition and voice control.

On the other hand, even the default Google browser is better than Safari, and there are heaps of other Android browsers who can do the job, each with custom functionality. Even Mozilla ported a version of their Firefox for Android.

Basically, Android provides a lot of choice for apps, because a user only needs a decent computer and can start developing right away, without worrying about licensing (which is necessary for Apple developers). So in short, variety is Android’s trump card.

Conclusion

Your own personal preference should guide you with choosing between Android and the iPhone, since they’re pretty much in a tie. However , if price is an issue for you –go for Android phones to get the same functionality at a lower price.
