  • CPM -  this parameter defines the money you earn per thousand impressions. That means that even if users don’t click the ads, merely seeing them will generate money. It’s often a pretty low amount of money, but is crucial to monetization if you have loads of traffic to your website.
  • Impressions – one impression is counted each time a visitor’s browser loads an advertisement. This metric is useful in defining the exposure of your site, and is crucial for calculating other metrics like CTR.
  • Ad type -  the ad type is basically a characteristic of what your ad comprises of , and what size it is.  Ads can be text-only and graphical, and graphical ads on the other hand come in a variety of shapes and sizes. And what’s more important – different sizes pay differently, so we can benefit by researching that.

When it comes to SEO, the popular terms are :

  • SERP (Search Engine Ranking Page) – this is basically the listing of the top resullts for a certain keyword in Google. To put that in an example, let’s say our keyword is “family car”, the SERP would contain what Google displays for the top 10 results for that keyword.
  • Page Rank –  this can mean two things, which are interconnected. Page Rank, on one hand , is the name of the algorithm used by Google to rank sites according to what it’s crawler finds on them. On the other hand, Page Rank as a metric,  is a number from 0 to 10 , which roughly represents how reliable and generally good the Google system finds your site.
  • Link Building – this is a set of practices used to increase the Page Rank of your website and improve your site’s ranking in the SERPs. The set of methods includes practices ,which require obtaining links from other places to your website. Increasing inbound links is of a particular importance for SEO.
  • On-page optimization consists of practices to make your site more clearly readable to the search engine crawler bots. The idea is that by providing well-structured text, your site will get better indexing and in turn, appear further up on the SERPs. On-page optimization consists of mostly web design techniques and best practices in order to pass information as more easily readable by the search engines instead of only for users.
